Primary School
Unison Primary School consists of the Early Years Foundation Stage, including Nursery and Reception (ages 3-4), Key Stage 1 (ages 5-6), and Key Stage 2 (ages 7-10).

Bespoke Curriculum
Aligned with the National Curriculum for England, the primary section at Unison High School has developed a tailored curriculum that reflects the unique context of the school. This curriculum takes into account the local setting, offering numerous opportunities to integrate Luxembourgish perspectives, while also embracing an international outlook that recognizes the diverse backgrounds of our students.
Celebrating Diversity
Celebrating diversity both within and beyond the curriculum is a core value at our school. As a result, students in the Primary section develop a strong sense of international awareness and often highlight the cultural diversity of the school as one of its greatest strengths. The school’s values, created by the Student Council and displayed in every classroom, are woven throughout the curriculum. Pride in Luxembourg’s history is reflected in displays, host country lessons, and was especially emphasized during a visit from HRH Crown Prince Guillaume in October 2020.
Core Subjects
In Years 1-6 (ages 5-10), the curriculum includes core subjects such as English, Mathematics, Science, Physical Education, Art, Music, Drama, Information Technology, and PSHE (Personal, Social, and Health Education). Students study either French or EAL (English as a Foreign Language) based on their individual language proficiency, and those in Years 3-6 attend weekly Luxembourgish lessons to deepen their understanding of their host country. This year, Luxembourgish is also offered to Year 4 students.
By the end of Year 6, students, particularly the most capable, demonstrate exceptional articulation, reading with fluency, expression, and enthusiasm. They write with confidence, apply punctuation accurately, and are proficient in various genres. They excel in mathematical skills across different subjects, display independence and logical thinking, and achieve high levels of creativity in art, music, and drama.

Small Class Sizes
At Unison High School, we maintain small class sizes to ensure a highly positive teacher-to-student ratio. The average class size in the Foundation stage (Nursery and Reception) is 17-18 students, while in Key Stage 1 and 2, the average class size is 19 students per class.
In line with our commitment to challenge and care, Primary students undergo regular assessments in English, Mathematics, French, and Science.
Distinctive System
Unison High School has a unique system where Achievement and Progress Leaders, along with Lead Teachers, support each phase of learning. This structure allows our most experienced teachers to collaborate with class teachers, providing tailored support and challenge for students at every stage. This distinctive staffing approach fosters a culture of high expectations and emphasizes the sharing of best practices.
