Secondary School

Secondary School

Unison High School’s Secondary section offers a challenging and supportive learning environment with high expectations for all students. While we are small enough to focus on each student’s individual needs, we are also large enough to provide a diverse and well-rounded academic curriculum. The Secondary school is home to over 340 students, including more than 60 in Key Stage 5 (Years 12-13). Academic success is a central focus, with students having the opportunity to prepare for demanding public examinations at ages 16 and 18.

Our vision is to create a learning environment where all students and staff strive for excellence in everything they do. Through a balance of challenge and care, we aim to help individuals reach their full potential, empowering them to make positive contributions to society and become confident, responsible global citizens.

Achieving Potential
At Unison High School, achieving potential goes beyond just academic success. Our students seize a wide range of enrichment opportunities and actively participate in educational trips both locally and internationally.

Our students excel in many areas beyond academics. Some achieve greatness in sports or the arts, others take on leadership roles, and many form meaningful, long-lasting friendships while supporting one another. These accomplishments are all worthy of celebration.

We are also proud to celebrate the outstanding academic achievements of our students.

Challenge and Care
This is reflected in the many ways our students help each other and support our community. Community service is a unique aspect of our school, and our students take great pride in valuing and assisting others.

Each student is assigned a Form Tutor, who they see daily and serves as the first point of contact for any academic or personal support. Additionally, students have a Head of Year who oversees their year group, offering guidance and support for any day-to-day concerns. These staff members are dedicated to coaching, supporting, and celebrating students’ achievements, no matter how big or small.

Worldwide Qualifications
Unison High School follows the English and Welsh National Curriculum, leading to I/GCSEs (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) and A Levels. These qualifications open doors to universities worldwide and are designed to develop critical thinking, higher-level academic skills, and competencies required by higher education providers. Our goal is to nurture young people who can think critically and understand the complexities of the modern world.

The quality of student learning and achievement is exceptional. Our students consistently achieve outstanding academic results. GCSE performance is notably higher than that of maintained schools and on par with selective schools in England. Similarly, the high levels of A-level achievement allow our students to gain admission to competitive universities in the UK and internationally.
